The concept seems to be ideal for students wanting to get rid of their surplus textbooks while obtaining their new ones for an average cost of just 79 pence. Signing-up to the service is free and all a user has to do then is fill their library with all their unwanted items - for each item you successfully send out, you gain between one and three 'flips' - depending on the market value of the product. Your 'flips' can then in turn be used to order products from the libraries of other users - which are growing rapidly every day. Hitflip.co.uk gives students a cheaper alternative to e-shopping solutions such as e-bay and Amazon - with the charge for swapping each item under a pound. The idea was launched in Germany in 2005 by creator Gerald Schonbucher and found immediate success - giving Hitflip.co.uk confidence that the site can be a success in the UK.
